Nov. 15, 2012: A police officer pepper-sprays a high school student who assaulted him, school district officials say. Joel Eisenbaum reports.

HOUSTON -

An unruly student was pepper-sprayed at a southwest Houston high school on Thursday, school district officials said.

Houston firefighters were called out to Madison High School, 13719 Whiteheather, about 2:45 p.m.

Houston Independent School District officials said a student who had been suspended went to the campus and a teacher asked him to leave.

The student became aggressive and assaulted a police officer, officials said.

The police officer used pepper spray to subdue the student, school district officials said. The student was then taken into custody.

HISD police will consult with the Harris County District Attorney's Office to determine if any charges will be filed.

The school district declined to release any information regarding the student's identity or why the student had been suspended.
