Gas prices are going up again

Aug. 13, 2012: Gas prices went up for a while, they went down for a few weeks and now they've gone back up. Why?? Amy Davis reports.

For the average driver on the road in Houston, this week's 10 cent price increase means they'll pay about $1.50 more to fill up this week than they did last week.

The average price for a gallon of regular was $3.52 on Monday.

In a study by AAA Texas, higher gas prices are not keeping families from traveling, but they are changing behavior.

"I normally fill up 15 gallons in my truck," driver Sherwin Jarmon said. "But because gas prices are so high, I only put $20 in right now, just in case next week or the next two or three days, if gas prices go back down, I can really fill up, and fill comfortable filling up all the way."

The highest price average price for a gallon of regular unleaded in Houston was $3.96 in July 2008.

In April, the average was $3.89 a gallon.

AAA Texas said analysts drivers should not expect to see a price drop until sometime after Labor Day.
