The former chief financial officer of AIDS Foundation Houston is accused of stealing thousands of dollars from the organization.

Lori Snyder is charged theft from a non-profit organization, a first-degree felony.

Prosecutors said Snyder stole between $100,00 and $200,000 thousand between 2007 and 2010.

Prosecutors said the foundation first discovered the problem and hired an outside firm to investigate.

"Anytime an organization, be it a private organization, a public organization or even an individual, something that they've earned belongs to them is taken from them, obviously it's serious. When it's between $100,000 and $200,000, it's way more serious," said prosecutor John Brewer.

Sources told KPRC Local 2 that this investigation started more than a year ago.

The head of the AIDS Foundation Houston said she was happy the case was moving forward and that the donor and community's interests were being protected.

Snyder is out of jail on a $50,000 bond.
