March 15, 2013: A driver leads officers on a chase that ends like most of them do -- with him in handcuffs in the back of a police car. Mary Benton reports.

HOUSTON -

A driver led police on a lengthy chase after an officer tried to pull him over.

Houston police said an officer tried to stop the driver on Westheimer near Shepherd on suspicion of a traffic violation on Friday afternoon, but he refused.

Officers said the driver sped down several city streets before getting on the freeways. He stopped at an apartment complex in the 5300 block of Coke, near the intersection of Clinton and Lockwood.

The driver tried to run on foot, but officers tackled him and took him into custody.

The man, who has not been identified, will likely be charged with evading arrest.

Police have not said why the driver refused to stop initially.
