Conroe offers amnesty to those with outstanding tickets or warrants
The city of Conroe will start an amnesty program for traffic tickets and other citations.
Citizens will be able to resolve some citations if they pay before March 1.
During that time, anyone with an outstanding warrant can make arrangements to have their warrants lifted and possibly a significant reduction in the amount of fines owed.
The amnesty is not restricted to traffic tickets. It also includes other Class C misdemeanors like public intoxication or shoplifting.
Once the amnesty period ends, the city plans to conduct a large-scale warrant roundup that will involve a dozen officers.
