HOUSTON -

Houstonians celebrated the end of 2012 with a trip back to the 1970s at Discovery Green Park Monday.

A little rain and wind didn't stop thousands from attending the family-friendly New Year's Eve party.

KC and the Sunshine Band filled the night sky with music.

The event included performances, a lighted parade, ice skating and a host of other events. For the kids, a kids confetti countdown to 2013 kicked off at 9 p.m.

Meanwhile, adults looked forward to seeing fireworks light up the night sky at the stroke of midnight over the George R. Brown Convention Center.

As people partied their way out of 2012, they also shared their New Year's resolutions.

"Gotta get rid of those pounds," said Barbie Davis as she laughed.

"Changing my attitude," said partygoer Isiah Medina.

For attendee Cecilia Kennenlly, 2013 will be about fun.

"Meeting new friends and having a great time," said Kennenlly.
