HOUSTON -

Police are looking for burglars who kicked down the doors of several north Houston apartments and stole some valuable items this week.

Several apartments at the Biscayne Apartments were broken into on New Year's Day. Thieves got away with flat-screen televisions, cellphones, Christmas presents and furniture.

Sarah Williams, who lives alone, discovered her apartment had been violated after celebrating the new year with family.

"Some phones were gone. An Xbox 360," said Williams. "I had a valuable watch taken, chairs, tables."

The apartment owner said Williams can move to another apartment in the complex or at another property free of charge. In the meantime, he said he's added armed security, reduced the number of entrances to the complex to one, and created a parking permit procedure.
