Aug. 15, 2012: Police say they are searching for crooks suspected of targeting women who live alone. Nick Giovanni reports.

TEXAS CITY, Texas -

Authorities said they are searching for crooks suspected of targeting women who live alone.

Texas City Police said they've identified at least three burglaries that have happened within the span of an hour on Sunday, Sept. 9.

Two of three incidents were at homes next door to each other.

In the surveillance video from a home along Armstrong Drive, a moving car can be seen early in the morning. At least three people make their way in and out of the car over the course of almost an hour while surveying two nearby homes, officials said.

The video shows one of the homeowners as she notices the men in her back yard at about 3:30 a.m. She is seen sprinting across the yard in fear of her safety and then coming face to face with the crooks as they run back to the car and leave, authorities said.

Rosa Gary lives next to the woman seen in the video. Gary said the victim used her cell phone to call Gary for help as she ran down the street.

"She was crying and upset," said Gary. "It scared me because when you get a call at 2:30 in the morning, 3:30 in the morning, you just know it's not something good."

Several women on the street said they hope the surveillance video will help police track down the suspects terrorizing their neighborhood.

Investigators said the crooks didn't steal anything from the last home, but did manage to swipe some pistols and jewelry from the home next door.

Anyone with information about this case is asked to call Crime Stoppers a call at 713-222-TIPS (8477).
