A man was stabbed to death and left on a southeast Houston sidewalk Monday.
According to officials, the 48-year-old man's body was found in the 5400 block of Telephone Road and Gillen Street around 2 a.m. Witnesses said the killer beat the victim until he was motionless.
Detectives are trying to figure out what triggered the attack in front of a seafood restaurant. Robbery may have been a motive, officials said.
Police said they were talking to witnesses to get a description of the suspect, as well as information on the crime.
"[He's only] described as a Hispanic male, 5 feet 6 inches, 130 pounds. The suspect got off the victim and and ran around this Payless store," said J.R. Johnston with the Houston Police Department.
A witness said he saw the attack and honked his horn to try and scare the suspect away, but it was too late.
Detectives said they would review surveillance camera video, although it was dark at the time of the killing.
The victim's name has not been released.
