Investigators have determined the identity of a woman whose body was found burning in north Houston.

Houston police said 40-year-old Angelica Garibay's body was found near the intersection of Lorraine and Gano about 6:30 a.m. on Friday.

"The fire was 5 to 6 feet tall, so what I did was call 911 immediately," Vanessa Branch said.

Crews said they found smoke and flames coming from a mound of trash. A short time later, they found a body.

Detectives said it's possible that someone took Garibay's body to the location and then set the fire.

The cause of Garibay's death has not yet been determined.

Investigators said they will look at surveillance video from nearby buildings to see if anything was caught on camera.

Anyone with information is asked to call the HPD Homicide Division at 713-308-3600 or Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.
