3 schools locked down during search for armed man

Feb. 5, 2013: Three northwest Harris County schools are locked down for a short time after, investigators say, an armed man was seen in the area. Courtney Zavala reports.

HOUSTON -

Three northwest Harris County schools were locked down for a short time Tuesday after, detectives said, an armed man was seen in the area.

Klein Independent School District officials ordered the lockdowns at Mittelstadt Elementary, 7525 Kleingreen, Kleb Intermediate, 7425 Louetta, and Klein High School, 16715 Stuebner Airline.

School district officials said the suspicious man was seen on Lyons School Road, between Kleb Intermediate and Klein High School, about 3 p.m.

Klein ISD police and Harris County Precinct 4 deputy constables searched the area for the man, but they have not found him. Officials said they identified a suspect, but they have not released his name or a description of him.

The lockdowns were lifted about 3:30 p.m.
