There have been several armed robberies near the University of Houston campus at Clear Lake, investigators said.

On Friday, the university's police department sent out an email to warn students and staff. An apartment complex near the university also put warning letters on residents' doors.

Investigators said a student was robbed at the Armand Place Apartments in 300 block of Cyberonics. The robber was described as white, in his early 20s, 5 feet 8 inches tall with close-cut hair. He was wearing a cream-colored short-sleeved shirt and blue jeans.

Houston police said robberies were reported at Shipley's Donuts in the 1800 block of El Dorado Boulevard and at a Denny's on Bay Area Boulevard.

Investigators said they do not know if the robberies are connected.

Anyone with information about the robberies is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.
