20 new human West Nile virus cases reported

HOUSTON -

A total of 20 new human cases of West Nile virus have been reported in Harris and Fort Bend counties.

Fourteen new cases were reported in the city of Houston last week.

There are a total of 38 human cases in the city of Houston. The most recent cases involve:

  • a southeast Houston woman between the ages of 55 and 74
  • a southwest Houston woman between the ages of 55 and 74
  • a northwest Houston woman between the ages of 25 and 34
  • a northwest Houston male between the ages of 15 and 24
  • a northwest Houston man between the ages of 55 and 74
  • a southeast Houston woman between the ages of 55 and 74
  • a southeast Houston woman between the ages of 55 and 74
  • a southwest Houston man between the ages of 55 and 74
  • a southeast Houston man between the ages of 25 and 34
  • a southwest Houston man between the ages of 25 and 34
  • a southeast Houston woman between the ages of 85 and 94
  • a southwest Houston man between the ages of 85 and 94
  • a southeast Houston woman between the ages of 25 and 34
  • a northwest Houston woman between the ages of 35 and 44

There are 13 cases in areas of Harris County that are not inside Houston's city limits. Three of those are new.

Fort Bend County officials also reported three new cases since Friday. The patients there include:

  • a Katy girl between the ages of 0 and 14
  • a Sugar Land woman between the ages of 35 and 44
  • a Sugar Land man between the ages of 55 and 74
  • a Katy woman between the ages of 55 and 74
  • a Richmond woman between the ages of 45 and 54
  • a Sugar Land man between the ages of 45 and 54
  • a Katy woman between the ages of 55 and 74
  • a Katy man between the ages of 55 and 74
