Feb. 25, 2013: Two men caught trying to break into a southeast Houston apartment were arrested on Tuesday, according to authorities. Phil Archer reports.

Two men were arrested Tuesday after they were caught trying to break into a southeast Houston apartment, according to authorities.

Houston police said a resident called them after he saw two men breaking into a neighbor’s apartment in the 8700 block of Broadway around 7:30 a.m.

The Broadway Square Complex has its own Houston Police Department storefront, and that location may have contributed to the officers' fast response.

Police said the suspects scattered when they arrived. The officers said they quickly caught one suspect before he could get off the property.

The other suspect ran to the back fence and headed into a subdivision east of the apartment complex, police said.

Officers said they found the second suspect trying to hide on the roof of a house at the intersection of Glen Valley and Wilmeardean. They brought him down and arrested him.

Both men were in jail Tuesday evening. Police said burglary charges are pending.
