1 person dead after plane accident near Austin County

A 67-year-old man from Houston has died after his aircraft crashed. Bill Spencer reports.

AUSTIN COUNTY, Texas -

One person is dead after a glider plane crashed near the Austin County and Fort Bend County line.

It happened around 2:18 p.m. Sunday at 12206 Reinecker Road in Wallis.

The victim has been identified as 67-year-old Houston man Rokki Ford Roberts.

Authorities say Roberts left the Greater Houston Soaring Association Airport but never made it back.

The reason for the crash is unknown, according to officials.

The Austin County Sheriff's Office was the first to respond to the scene. Fort Bend County officials are assisting. Investigators with the Federal Aviation Administration are en route to investigate the scene.
