A man was wounded in a shootout at a southwest Houston intersection Monday.

Houston police said the shooting happened on Quail Park at Quail Hills at 1:30 a.m. when two groups of people in vehicles got into an argument and pulled out guns. The groups then started shooting at each other, investigators said.

A man who was shot in the abdomen was taken to a house on North Meadow Bird, where an ambulance picked him up and took him to the Memorial Hermann Hospital, police said. He was listed in stable condition.

Multiple bullets also hit a Toyota car, which was driven several blocks to Sunny's Food Store.

Investigators said they do not yet know what sparked the argument.

Several people were taken into custody. An investigation is under way.
