One man was arrested and three others got away after a police chase in north Houston, investigators said
Houston police said an officer tried to stop a driver near the intersection of Dinah and Airline about 11:30 p.m.
"They refused to stop," Sgt. John Nickell said.
During a brief chase, the men inside the vehicle threw guns and other possible evidence out of the car, investigators said. Those weapons were recovered by officers.
At the end of the chase, the driver went to the Timber Ridge apartment complex on Aero Park and Crosstimbers Road, investigators said.
Four men inside the car jumped out and ran, police said.
"One of them jumped a wooden fence into someone's patio," Nickell said. "That's where I arrested him."
That man was identified as Joshua DeWayne Smith, 20. He's been charged with evading arrest on foot, a misdemeanor. His criminal history includes charges of theft and robbery with bodily injury.
The other three men got away, according to Nickell. Descriptions of them have not been released.
Police said the men were likely involved in a robbery in the area.
