"Children at Risk" ranks Houston area schools

April 22, 2013: Children at Risk, a Houston based advocacy organization, has published its school rankings list for 2013.  Jennifer Bauer reports.

Houston -

HOUSTON -- Children at Risk, a Houston based advocacy organization, has published its school rankings list for 2013. 

The rankings include more than 1200 schools in traditional districts and charter schools in the Houston metro area.

Children at Risk said the purpose of the rankings is not only to provide a tool for parents and students but also to, "Provide information to campuses and districts on how they perform relative to their peers and on successful models of high performing public schools." . 

Top Three Elementary Schools:

T.H. Rogers, Houston ISD, River Oaks Elementary, Houston, ISD and Commonwealth Elementary, Fort Bend County ISD

Top Three Middle Schools:

T.H. Rogers, Houston ISD, Harmony School of Science in Houston and SER-Ninos Charter Middle in Harris County.

Top Three High Schools:

DeBakey High School for Health Professionals, Carnegie Vanguard and Eastwood Academy, all part of the Houston ISD.
