LA PORTE, Texas -

Police need help finding the person who broke into a pickup truck and stole thousands of dollars and a gun.

La Porte police said someone in a van followed a man from a Baytown credit union to the Big Rig Express Lube in the 900 block of North state Highway 146 about 2:30 p.m. on Feb. 8.

After the man, who works at the express lube shop, got out of his Ford F-150 pickup truck and went into the business, someone in a minivan pulled alongside the man's vehicle and shattered a window, investigators said.

The thief stole $3,000 the man had just withdrawn and a Taurus handgun, police said.

The minivan was described as a white Dodge Grand Caravan or Chrysler Town & Country with tinted windows.

Anyone with information is asked to call La Porte police at 281-842-3173.
