Here are KPRC Local 2's suggestions for an entertaining and affordable weekend.

HOUSTON -

The weekend is here and it’s time to share some of our favorite family events that won’t cost you a dime, courtesy of our friends at Houston on the Cheap.

Celebrate Dr. Seuss this Saturday at Seussapalooza.  It's happening from 10am to 1pm at the Webster Upstage Arts Youth Theater. The free fun includes theater games, arts and crafts and photos with costumed characters.

Learn all about bats from a Texas Parks & Wildlife biologist on Saturday, from 9 a.m. to noon. Learn which ones can be found in Harris County, the threats they face and their role in the wild. It's happening at the Jesse H. Jones Parks & Nature Center in Humble.

Then head over to the Wabash Feed and Garden Center on Washington for special presentation on wild animals. The Texas Wildlife Resource Center is hosting the event from 1:30 to 3 p.m. Kids will be able to take photos with the wildlife too.

If you're bargain hunting, browse the Discovery Green outdoor flea market from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday. You'll find plenty of vintage items,  mid-century modern furniture, recycled and re-purposed items and collectibles. Enjoy a free concert while you're there. Charlie Perez is the performer.
