If you’re looking to shed some pounds before the summer bikini season, or just because you want to be healthier -- keep in mind that no matter what the labels say, or what fad diets claim, there are no foods that really ‘burn’ calories for you. Movement is what takes care of that.

There are, however, foods that will enhance your diet that are convenient to prepare, flavor-full, nutritious and keep your body churning. To keep your weight-loss regimen a success, consider making these 10 foods on the list a part of your plan.

Avocado

This fruit is very rich in monounsaturated fat, which makes it very satisfying. Limit yourself to ¼ of an avocado for a serving.

Almonds or Almond Butter

This nut which is rich in monounsaturated fat, which keeps the blood sugar stable and helps to keep you satisfied.

Beans

Beans are chock-full of fiber. Foods that are high in fiber give a bulking sensation in the stomach when consumed, which makes you feel full. Fiber-rich foods make you feel less hungry (remember, moderation is key, too!). One cup of cooked black beans has 15 grams of fiber.

Edamame or Soy Nuts

You need vitamin B in order to produce energy. Edamame or soy nuts are loaded with B vitamins, which makes them a perfect snack that contains protein, fat and carbohydrates.

Old-Fashioned Oats

The high fiber of old fashioned rolled oats is once again the key to the food being a great diet food. The fact that it’s a food that is warm and comforting to eat is an extra treat.

Quinoa

This fast-cooking grain is very high in protein and fiber, which is pertinent to keeping you feeling full as well as energized. It’s also fast to cook -- key for when you’re feeling hungry!

Spices

Red hot chili peppers (no, not the band) and chili flakes promote fat burning by helping to ‘heat’ up your metabolism. There are many ways that you can add a little dash here in there. You can spice up a sandwich to a bowl of popcorn with just a little sprinkle.

Whey

This is one of the best friends of your weight-loss plan. It gives the body signals that regulate food intake. A couple of foods that include whey are milk and and cottage cheese. Choose cottage cheese for a higher concentration of whey.

Water

At times we can confuse thirst for hunger, so make sure that you’re staying hydrated, especially if you’re balancing healthy eating with getting physical.

Chocolate

You’ve been working hard, and you deserve a treat! Fortunately, dark chocolate is a treat that’s packed with goodness. The flavonols contained in dark chocolate help boost blood flow throughout the body. The sugar and caffeine stimulate energy -- take the deprivation out of dieting, and have a good time. Chocolate is a good time.
